“Capital Grill Review and meeting with Sous Chef ”

ImageI had an early lunch invitation on Saturday at “Capital Grill” in Dusit Thani Hotel Abu Dhabi, well arranged by Simone Stanco, Director of Food & Beverage. Ambiance and décor was superb, though extremely silent, I did miss on the light melodious notes buzzing. On to the food! once we were seated, we were quickly greeted by an Australian Sous Chef “Riane Robert. Stubbs” who brings with him on menu a number of unique signature dishes. He was extremely knowledgeable in everything from menu to steaks, ingredients variety to fat types and temperatures and lastly, he was very nice and took care of us extremely well. He talked about so many customs and traditions related to food particularly steaks, their types, cuts and accurate temperatures and about “well done” cliché involved with the dish. The readily availability of ingredients and food trends in the region is been much appreciated by him.ImageImageImage

Well for those looking for a contemporary Bistro dining experience, Capital Grill is the place to go. A modern dining restaurant and lounge bar, it offers guests an array of premium US and Australian meat cuts, grills and signature specialities complemented by a wide collection of international beverages. The menu is spearheaded coupled with a premium dining experience. Chef R. got us the Mushrooms as starter, which consisted of large chunks of Mushrooms and cream cheese in a breaded setting.

The dressing is slightly creamy and worked exceptionally well with the herbs and garlic kick, then it was the Hot and Cold Tasting Platter of Seafood, an amazing good-looking platter stack of various fresh, cold and hot calamari and Tuna specialties; and crispy Shrimps. Everything was impeccably fresh and each of the meats were sweet and there was lots of it. The seafood was outstanding and as good as the rest of the meal was, this was clearly the highlight.

While the Chef really hit the nail on the head with this starter concoction, here arrived my main dish – steak which was cooked right to perfection, tenderness and everything, sides were delicious especially buttery mashed potatoes. The portions are generous and came out hot an tasty. My mouth is watering just thinking about this steak again, I think I’m hooked on high end beef and yeah it definitely worth the money for this steak again, I will thanks Chef R. who has provided us with an innovative menu prepared with best ingredients and complemented by an array of side dishes and sauces.

Capital Grill does a great job of creating an upscale dining experience, with the elegant and posh setting to enjoy really good food. It is in my list of favorite steakhouse, very comfortable and spacious, yet feels intimate.. oh and yes I didn’t order a cold beverage, but they had gotten a Virgin Planter’s Punch (mix of pineapple, orange and lemon juice
with Caribbean syrup) that was tasty and refreshing.Image

  • All in all, a great meal.. Not cheap, but you get what you pay for and in special occasions, it’s certainly worth the splurge.
  • The food was good and the service was great. I will definitely be eating here again.
  • Make sure to ask about their intermediate cooking temperatures (i.e. Medium) – it’s life changing.
  • It can accommodate both large groups and more private gatherings. Valet parking is available.
  • The Capital Grille caters to the business lunch crowd, and can get you through your meal in 45 minutes without feeling rushed. Plus their “Business Lunch” offer is great deal.
