We at Mahi Blog are closely involved with the property and took part regularly in their events. Last month was the time when for the first time they were doing a country music event and it fell in the same weekend as the Dubai Motor Festival.
Hence Sheraton Jumeirah Beach Resort has arranged The ‘must attend’ live country music event! The crowd thoroughly cherished this an unforgettable experience filled with live music with the Jim Everett Band, a delicious American style BBQ, fun activities such as mechanic bull rides and much more!
So all in all it was the best live country music event! And enjoyed by complete family.
Jim Everett Interview:
We got an opportunity to chat with the famous Jim Everett from JEB (Jim Everett Band) and here is the quick roll on our conversation.
Q: Some Bio and background?
A: Born in Atlanta, Georgia. Raised in Mississippi. Was in service for 20 years, and I have played music in Germany for over 30 years. I started out when I was 7 in Mississippi singing Gospel Music in the church.
Q: Do you have singers in your family?
A: My mother and my sisters sing. Just so everyone knows, I am not a cowboy, just a country boy from Mississippi..
Q: How does pop music and new music interacts with country music?
A: Country has changed over the years, previously country was a twang sounding music, however because of a singer named Garth Brooks country has gone a little bit rock style and of course as the line dancing has made it even more popular.
Q: How many performances have you done so far?
A: In Europe, over 1500.
Q: How many times have you been in Middle East?
A: This is the first time.
Q: Did you know there were country music lovers here?
A: No but I was hoping so… and I am surprised.
Q: Who does the Song writing?
A: We do a lot of cover songs from George Straight to Alan Jackson
Q: How do you relate the music with the moods?
A: Music is from the heart. if your heart is not in it, it is not music. So you have to love what you doing. We try to set a lot of moods while performing.
Q: Please tell us more about your band?
A: All of the band members have been playing together between 17 to 30 yrs. They are all very talented. We also have a Pedal Steel Guitar player. This is an instrument which is very hard to play.
Q: Do you think country music relates between different nationalities?
A: OH yes. Country Music has something for everyone, regardless of where we come from.
Q: Do you like UAE?
A: OH yes I love it. I hope to be coming back next year.
Q: Are you planning to visit any other cities in UAE
A: Yeah. but next time as I am really occupied this time.
