Mynt Restaurant – Perfect venue for Fine Indian Cuisine

Upon invitation, we reached this conveniently located newly opened Indian Cuisine restaurant in Abu Dhabi. After a warm welcome and greetings by the friendly staff at Mynt, we were been seated at a cozy corner. It was lovely to see a  welcome note on bright white plate awaiting already. While we were admiring the wooden carved architecture along with gold and Mint hues representing the soul of the restaurant, fresh papads along with sauces arrived at the table. We started off with soup and tasted delicious Dhania aur tamatar shorba along with Mulligatawny Murgh Shorba. 1st one was an aromatic soup of freshly blended tomato and coriander; I love the aroma of cumin and the light taste. 2nd one was a hearty soup of yellow lentil and chicken breast with toasted cumin and fresh coriander. It tastes a lot like lentil soup with a hint of chicken stock.

For starters, we tried their famous signature item Masala Jhinga Poppers which is Mynt take on Dynamite shrimps, where masala batter coated. Shrimps were tossed in a creamy makhani Mayo and were definitely a great idea to start off your meal on a pleasant note. Best part it wasn’t too hot in terms of spices hence was equally devoured by the kids also. I and hubby still wanted to try somewhat spicy item. Accordingly, staff suggested trying their Gunpowder murgh. As explosive as it sounds in its name the taste dint disappoints us as well. Tamilian spice flavored these bite-size chunks of chicken breast were drenched with spicy Indian sauce with tender epicenter. My veg reader would not have any room for disillusion as Tandoor Veg options are also available at Mynt restaurant in abundance too. We did taste Tandoori Gobhi & Broccoli, and these cauliflower and broccoli florets were not only a treated top your eyes but were delicious with cream cheese and labneh margination with apt. barbeque finishing.

Tasting on such tasty starters, we are anticipating delightful main course and began eating with Adhraki Lamb Chops. Ginger and garam masala taste were yet pretty strong however we love the lamp preparation it was tender and retain its shape and form with lovely presentation. Then comes a signature dish for the restaurant Daab Chingri. Presented in a Coconut shell, these gulf shrimps were so decadent in taste with coconut, mustard, ginger and turmeric elements. I have never been a great fan of coconut-based curries, but this one has indeed won my heart with its mild and aromatic taste.

Murgh Makhni i-e, their house special butter chicken, was also cooked in a tandoor and was simmered in very mild spices. This tomato-based gravy finished with cream and fenugreek was delicious and my favorite. Hubby loved Gosht Khada masala as he is a fan of Hyderabadi dishes and whole garam masala. The slow fire cooking technique did give the perfect melt to meat and is tender and juicy. Gobhi mutter ki sabzi was an excellent option for vegetarians in taste, the onion, ginger garlic and tomato based masala preparation is home-style, and the portion size will undoubtedly make you happy and is great for sharing.

Pullao style biryani was average, though I loved the rice quality and freshness of ingredients, I would still like to taste their signature biryani to make an opinion for their Dum Gosht and jhinga biryani. In desserts, we tasted a selection plated with Pista Kulfi (creamy traditional Indian ice cream) served with caramelized milk, rasmalai & gulab jamun. Kulfi and Gulab Jamun were like with my whole family. Refreshing Juices and Fruit Punches are also must to try especially Watermelon Basil and  P&P.

Overall food is delicious at Mynt as they offer authentic and traditional Indian cuisine from the many culturally diverse regions of India fused with the vibes of 21st Century India. The restaurant aims to consistently create and reinvent new dishes adding modern twists to conventional Indian recipes like Jhinga poppers & Daab Chingri. We highly recommend this restaurant in terms of best services, hospitality, culinary and dining experiences and being friendly on your pocket.
