New Chef Adds Flair to The Dining Room at Jannah Burj Al Sarab
We were invited to’ Opera de Paris’ at The Dining Room at Jannah Burj Al Sarab. We enjoyed a premium dining experience with the newly launched dinner. They have recently launched the exquisite Opera de Paris degustation menu comprising of three courses, designed by Executive Chef Wafi Halimi, whose Mediterranean-inspired French dishes make for an extraordinary dining experience.
As diners, we enjoyed the freshest selection of mixed green salad, an assortment of specialty main courses with homemade sauce, and a chef’s special dessert. The whole ambiance was of candle lit dinner. However, I feel there was not even enough light on individual tables to see the dishes itself. I would prefer if some dim-lit spot light on ceilings to bright -up the table spread at least.
The main highlights were Australian Angus Tenderloin Steak; it was a tad bit tough.
Fresh Chicken Breast was an interesting dish with succulent meat and well marinated. This was hubby’s favorite item.
Catch of the Day sourced daily from the Meena market. For out taste on the day, it was fresh steamed sea bass. It was soaked in white buttered sauce and was very tasty with minimal spices, and you can taste the real white flesh of the fresh catch.
For those with a discerning sweet tooth, a selection of à la carte French dessert are also available such as the Fondue au Chocolat, Crème Brûlée and Cheesecake topped with Fragrant Passion Fruit.
We tasted Fondue au Chocolat & Crème Brûlée; both were tasty and a perfect note to end the meal in the french way.
In his first appointment as Executive Chef, his focus would be to revamp the hotel’s menus and dining concepts, in addition to overseeing the culinary operations, as well as the training and development of a team of eight.
“My culinary focus is in French and Mediterranean cuisine; I aim to marry traditional cooking concepts with my take on modern techniques, which will hopefully put Jannah Burj Al Sarab on the forefront of contemporary dining in the United Arab Emirates,” said Wafi.
An advocate of healthy living, Wafi relaxes in his free time with playing football and rugby. “As the saying goes: healthy body; healthy mind – in order for me to give my best at work, I set aside time to take care of my health as well,” said Wafi.
The Opera de Paris degustation menu is available daily between 6 pm and 11 pm with prices starting from AED85++ per person.
