Parivar – Delicious Desi food

This restaurant is conveniently located in the Capital’s busiest streets; Hamdan in Al Markaziya, just next To Sun & Sands Sports. This was my first encounter along with my Parivar (Family) and I surely enjoyed a decent meal that satisfied my taste buds. The restaurant has a decent setup with small tables keeping in view the entire space coverage of the outlet. They do serve some delicious chaat, you may choose amongst Raj Kachori, Dahi Bhale or Papdi chaat as we taste all three and liked it too, Raj Kachori though is my favorite pick. Staff are friendly and welcoming.

In Nepalese food we tried Thukpa, a typical Tibetan Soup with Chicken, veggies and noodles. Kids loved it literally and all of us actually have liked it better that Hot & sour soup even. Next in Nepali Specialties we tried famous Momos, we taste all 3 versions i-e Steam, Fry & C Momo (chili & with gravy) and it was hard to choose the best amongst them. Yummy and perfectly done these were favorite for the entire family.

Paneer Kadai and Palak Paneer are recommended options for vegetarians. Their kadai masala is not over empowered with tomato and have the perfect balance along with onion in gravy. Palak paneer was my ultimate favourite as this spinach gravy with cottage cheese is simply done well. Also if you want to try the dish from the valley of Kashmir try Mixed Hara Masala, subtle & earthy gravy with so much to offer.

It impossible not to try Tandoori items at a desi restaurant hence we rightly ordered as per supervisor’s choice the best 5! Chicken Seekh Kabab i-e average, slight overdo in herbs for my taste buds.  I would love to try mutton option next time. Bihari Kebab was delicious with margination done overnight this charcoal smoked Beef boneless pieces were so tender. Chicken Kali mirch was another pleasant encounter, slightly hot on spice side but is juicy and melt in mouth chicken morsels. Last but not the least is Pakistan’s answer to Fish & chips; yes LAHORI Fried fish and yet again it was bang-on taste. Another killer combo for Paki food lovers is Chicken Balti & Naan, OMG! They literally have so many amazing choices to choose from the menu.

Murg Rara Punjabi that I taste at Parivar was immensely delicious with it unique preparation of chicken in minced lamb gravy, rice in taste, spiced up with reg chilies, green coriander, topped with ginger this dish strikes all the high notes, and did not fail to impress even the tiny diner in our brood. From Pakistani curries, we tried Mutton Boneless Handi, perfectly done in a clay pot in an authentic lahori style these tender meat pieces with masala is a dream handi. We tasted assorted breads with Main curry based dishes. I loved Garlic Naan, Kalongi naan – Lahori Kulcha was my son’s favorite.

In Rice section, we opted for best from Indo-Pak i-e Bombay Dum & Sindhi Biryani. Spicy Rice and meat prepared in traditional Dumpukht has given this heavenly aroma to Parivar’s Bombay Biryani that won over my heart. Bombay Biryani in general is one of my favorite food dish, so trust me when I say that I will not be bias while praising it. As when I thought I already had the best Sindhi Biryani arrived with perfect presentation and appearance topped with Fried golden brown Onion slices and added bonus of dainty potato pieces in Rice! Could not have asked for any better.

Gulab Jamun was delicious, while kheer was not overly sweet however since my expectations were too high at this level, I was hoping them to be even tastier. Unfortunately, Shahi Tukra that I wanted to try was not available, though I would highly recommend Chocolate Momos. Kids and I loved their drool some filling of Nutella, chocolate and coconut, sweet surprise.

Overall, it was a great experience. The staff is humble however too engaged with weekend chaos & online orders to give attention over the table for cutlery and plate changing if required. Nevertheless, I did mention to server and they took feedback seriously also the restaurant manager is keen to understand how the food and the service was. The food is reasonably priced for the quality and the portions. I have tried them for the first time for Pakistani and Indian food specialty and will definitely try it again.
