Peppermill Eastern Mangroves AbuDhabi – Quintessentially Indian.

We visited a nearby branch of Peppermill restaurant is located in a gorgeous location of Eastern Mangrove promenade. The ambiance of the restaurant was admirable as well as the setting, we loved those Indian historian Royalties Giant portraits along with their family photographs. Outside view is astounding from outdoor seating area available. It’s highly enjoyable to visit them when the days are cooler. You can enjoy the mangroves view while dining the scrumptious meal on their terrace.

Service:

To begin with, they have friendly fastidious staff who kept checking on us constantly. Attentive & welcoming staff went the extra mile to hint us the popular and signature dishes and took our suggestion. Then in charge manager visited our table to present us with specific food rundown list Chef has curated for MahiBlog. They also checked upon our spice level tolerance. The service was prompt, and the staff well trained and polite and were regularly changing the plates after each course.

Menu:

Peppermill is one of the best places for the ultimate desi cuisine. We tried a variety from their extensive detailed menu. I felt the spice level is high compared to other Indian restaurants, a plus for hubby being a spice lover. We begin with Tomato Shorba (Soup), the quantity also was just perfect for sharing and the coriander and ginger taste was pleasant. Next arrived a unique Salad Fatoush in a deconstructed manner. All the ingredients were sitting separately on the plate with balsamic dressing served on the side. Bell peppers were char grilled and tasted amazing with feta cheese.

From starters, it’s worth mentioning popular karare palak chat similar yet different version from what we tried at Jodhpur. This dish is a must try, crisp and packed with the flavor of tamarind & coriander chutney giving that oomph factor. It’s unusual but from now my preferable style of serving spinach.

BBQ dishes here were a hit from the chicken malai tikka to mutton seekh kebab. The method of cooking the chicken is fantastic, ensuring the tender center of the chicken. It easily pulls apart upon eating. Cream cheese marinade in malai tikka was the essence of the dish. Garam masala taste was not over-empowering in  Seekh kebab with which is a plus point for me.

From mains we tried Awadhi Chicken Korma, the taste was average. Then came the Chicken Chettinad where gravy was very delicious. A true South Indian treat I would say. The dal was creamy and with just the right amount of spices. The lamb curry i-e Pasliyon ka salan was the highlight of our meal with Malai Kofta, another hit on the menu. For vegetarians, they also serve Broccoli & Zucchini Mussallam, a dish which is conceptualized and presented in a great manner, no shortfall on taste here either.

Awadhi Gosht Biryani us the best option in rice items, With the aroma of fresh herbs, green cardamom & saffron cooked rice will raise you in your seat way before it this item reaches to your table. Hubby devoured this dum biryani, the meat was so soft and melt-in-your-mouth perfect, cooked to perfection.

For dessert, we enjoyed the Rose Water and Black pepper Kulfi (the unique & unusual version) and make shahi tukda they were both awesome

Verdict:

You can enjoy your meal overlooking the mangroves, an experience on its own. Taste wise in my opinion spice level should be monitored as per the guest’s preferences. I did find few dishes high on salt too.  The taste delivered was to an optimum point generally in most of the menu items. Serving portions are generous and good for sharing. This place took us all by surprise, not just to the location but also the food and service. Hot Steaming food was a WOW factor at Peppermill; I also loved their colorful presentation and perfect sizes for serving bowls. The curry portions are great. Their butter naan was too good and remained soft. The food was ample, tasty, good to share with family and the price is worth it.
