Sofitel Abu Dhabi Corniche – Reviewed

Upon receiving a kind invitation from Elena Polischuk, Marketing & Communications Manager at Sofitel Abu Dhabi Corniche to come and enjoy their famous theme nights we had decided to go for the American Themed Night as we have very few quality American cuisine available in Abu Dhabi.

Sofitel Abu Dhabi Corniche is a symbol of French elegance in the heart of the Emirates. The hotel is the ideal base to enjoy the cultural venues currently under construction on Saadiyat Island. Such as the Louvre Abu Dhabi and the Guggenheim Abu Dhabi, Yas Island with the famous Formula 1 Circuit and Reem Island. Also it enjoys a privileged location on the eastern tip of the Corniche Road, one of the most prestigious district in the city and characteristic charm of the seafront.

Our first encounter to the uplifting front of the hotel i-e lobby was unforgettable, it’s majestic! and scented with L’Artisan Parfumeur’s evocative ‘Jatamansi’ fragrance, an invitation to serenity. Corniche Restaurant is all Day Dining Featuring three live cooking stations offering the best of French “cuisine bourgeois” and rotisserie cooking; Pan-Arabic cuisine with Gulf, North African and Levant influences and a traditional saj oven; a Boulangerie counter with exquisite breads, pastries, Viennoiseries and sweets. We were already being so excited to be enjoying our dinner at the same venue, the day has arrived and we have reached there.

After being greeted well, we were seated into a calm corner. The seating spread is diverse you may choose the location as per your preference, as there are tables available at the extended terrace giving a panoramic view of lobby as well as the outside road facing corniche thanks to its floor to ceiling glass walls. However, we preferred choosing that quiet corner to be able to flash and snap our menu.

F&B Outlet Supervisor Justin Paul has presented us a very unique and his own creation and Icey drink “The Dawn”. Comprises od Passion de Fleurs Tea & Raspberry in fizzy 7up, garnished with Mint Leaves & Lemon Juice it is indeed an award winning fresher to sip on. Sweet Sunrise in another suggestion to try and is also refreshing.

Their Salads variety is to be applauded for few highlights were Spicy Potato salad with Crispy Bacon & Apple walnut Salad – so crunchy and succulent. Also this is my first try at Smoked Salmon Ceaser Salad and Mexican Kidney Bean Salad both were healthy, and unique in their taste. Keeping pace with their American theme night there is also New Orleans BBQ beef salad which is spicy and tangy. Sea food lovers won’t be disappointed as we spot Creole style seafood salad. And Endive and Blue Cheese Salad for cheese lovers. Dressing and condiments selection at salad bar was very neat and clean and been regularly filled up and refreshed.

I personally like Californian Rolls with Crab Meat, Tuna, Asparagus they were crunchy from top and tender from inside. Wide collection of cold Arabic Mezza was available for resident’s choice Fattouche, Babaghanoush, Waraq Enab, Okra Bell Zeit and Tomato Kamoniah were so appetizing. Creole Seafood Gumbo was our soup hero however corn chowder is also available if you are not seafood fan and love creamy base.

Live stations at American theme night were very bright and appealing. They have Beef Sliders & Hot Dogs, being kids favorite counter and you may request for Grilled Beef Steak, BBQ Chicken & Barbequed Beef ribs which they are preparing fresh with regular intervals and bring smoking hot to your table, we were impressed.

Grilled Sausage & Florida’s Crispy Bacon will remind you of the American Street food and transport you to other land. It was a great surprise to see Chicken quesadilla, Nachos & Tacos on live station along with home-made Tomato salsa, Corn Salsa & Guacamole. I loved the texture, it was so balance on sweet and hot elements too.

Carving Counter with Whole Roasted Turkey was quite famous amongst the diners and was good in taste. Main course was a grand affair at Corniche Sofitel Abu Dhabi American Street Night as it has all of the States favorite starting from Wild Rabbit Stew, it’s an ideal taste for autumn and a perfect stew for cool nights. Cajun Spiced Grilled salmon was juicy and aromatic thanks to its perfect grill and cooking timings. You simple can’t miss that Southern fried chicken when been invited at American themed dinner, it’s crispy and peppery. Turkey and White bean stew has curry in it as well which made is a good to go with steamed rice. There is a variety of Arabic and Indian dishes at the menu as well to suits the taste buds of a mix of customers visiting the restaurant.

Chili Con Carne, Eggplant Mussaka, Grilled Hamour with Harra Sauce, Daal Tadka and Veg Cous Cous were few more amongst the must try items.

Desserts section was the while grand affair and the round counters were decorated with American flag color theme and is the most favorite amongst kids and busiest counter. Mango and passion fruit macaroon & Vanilla mille feuille was extensively consumed by our munchkins and Raspberry crème brulee and that gorgeous Carrot cake with Philadelphia cream took the trophy.

Banofie was truly an American delight for hubby, and later he enjoyed Peanut butter bavaroise. Hot Desserts section have Arabic sweets favorite Um ali with a pleasant twist of green tea and Bread and butter pudding. Assorted Pie and Mixed berry chocolate pudding was warm and flavorsome. Bakes cheesecake is highly recommended freshly prepared and baked in front of you and been served at once. It is the best of its kind we had at Corniche and loved it thoroughly.

Chocolate fountain & Crepe station with ice creams and condiments was so attractive and have kids around it like bees around the hive.

It’s a place where you can invite your friends and loved ones to travel the world with their very customized theme nights which satisfy your craving at fullest. Mahi Blog will rate this 4.5 out of 5.
