Pax is a stylish, fine dining Italian restaurant located on 24th floor of Dusit Thani Dubai Hotel. I stumbled upon PAX a few months back while stepping out from Tandoori Night Themed dinner at The Californian. While entering the main dining area of PAX, we witnessed magnificent & classical-inspired architectural design. Outlet boasts a fascinating long hall that shouts Italy, making you think or that aura. With the stunning dark colored chandeliers hanging from above, resounding the undying lure of candle light ambiance, I felt I am somewhere in Italy! It is indeed a treat to view this elegant interior with stunning views over the Dubai cityscape.
Keeping up with our Italian cuisine celebration on Mahi Blog we decided to visit and explore the same. We were ardently greeted by the staff and within few minutes arrive their Executive Chef Antonello Manca to personally welcome us, he warmly greeted us and chat long about the cliché’s attached to Italian cuisine, his journey with Dusit chain and so much about South and North Italian food their Native likeness and methods of cooking. It was indeed worth knowing so much about ingredients and their varieties and Cheese-eey stories 🙂
In broad-spectrum till this moment I already fell in love with their ambience which truly reflect Italian taste. I loved the dimming light effect and background music it’s really soothing and is a great comfort after a long drive we did all the way from Abu Dhabi. Now sitting on a high-rise level and witnessing the majestic Burj Khalifa and the view of oncoming traffic on Sheikh Zayed road at night in this venue is a boundless experience in itself.. I came here with my family and we had our own little alcove to ourselves.
We were served complimentary bread and a chef’s welcoming bite of Crab meat with Jumbo Prawn along with Artichoke, rocket leaves and balsamic reduction. The taste was great it’s crispy and at the same time giving ample flavor. The bread was nicely browned and harmonizing fit with their medley of olive oil and balsamic vinegar in a very attractive glass Decanter.
And next to my surprise, the chef was happy to bring on something for us from Kiss the Sun AELION STYLE menu and it was Spaghetti with tuna and funnel.
The orange-scented beef Carpaccio was delicately sliced, well presented and very tasty served with Rucola leaves. Next on table was Italian Buffalo mozzarella with roma tomatoes, basil and balsamic reduction that convoyed its opulent and rich palate. We also tasted margarita pizza and sea food soup which were both excellent, especially soup gives this subtle taste because of richness from Cherry tomatoes in fish stew. For vegetarian options you may try their traditional liguria pasta with pesto, pine nuts, potatoes, green beans and parmigiano cheese. Risotto should be cooked well and held up to fork that’s how we experienced our Porcini Mushrooms sticky adventure.
Then arrives our main order included “Slices of Grilled Sirloin Steak”, First one was served with Italian Roasted potatoes. I loved the balance of salt and pepper. Highlight of this dish was indeed a silent companion grilled radicchio which is a very famous Italian vegetable and they used it best (this is the first time I have tasted this vegetable and could never imagine if I would taste it in Main Italian course and not in salad for a change). What gives further boost to taste of this dish is the essence and reduction of 10 years old balsamic vinegar and parmigiano cheese shaving which were melting on grilled sirloin rack and giving that vivacity to this luscious arrangement.
Another main was “Lamb Cutlets Chops” seasoned with olive oil, garlic and fresh herbs, it’s tender and Juicy, though we missed some sauce with it.
We were too full to order dessert but on Chef’s recommendation got indulge in Tiramisu which has empowering mascarpone cheese taste in first bites, though when you dig deep in cup you get this perfect bite along with soaked sponge biscuits in espresso coffee. We even tried the highly recommended Belgian Chocolate Flan with a melted dark chocolate center as it’s homemade so preparation does take 20-25 minutes but it’s all worth it as it’s simply
Service was very professional and I would definitely recommend this restaurant for a special occasion. Waiter followed proper steps of sequence of service and will pay extra attention while taking your order. The prices are decent, Pax Lounge can host private dinners as well for up to 50 people.
It was a great experience overall. Food, service and ambiance are all a champ, we shared good memories and admire PAX for its venue and broad menu hence rated it 4.5 out of 5!!
