An inspiration truly Italian – Roberto’s

We have gladly added another slice of Italian inspiration to our #abudhabifoodie bucket list and Capital food journey i-e Roberto’s. Located on Abu Dhabi’s Al Maryah Island, Roberto’s Abu Dhabi is an upscale Italian restaurant. With a warm & intimate space, the first impression upon entering the restaurant was splendid. There are no linens on the tables, the dress code is smart-casual, and the staff made us feel comfortable and welcome via their friendly attitude.

With freshly made bread. The focaccia was incredible and better than anything I’d had – even in Italy. Paired with three dips, I had to stop myself from finishing the whole box. I was concerned that I’d ruin my appetite for what was to come – and I was determined to fit in dessert.

Gamberi Mezzo Fritto is an art form in Roberto’s Antipasti. Light and tasty starter and I’ve honestly never eaten such high-quality prawns, so perfectly presented. The combo of half fried and half raw was simple magical. Tamarin, green zucchini, and black ink sauce were detectable.

Burrata pomodorini was an excellent choice; the fresella bread base will accentuate and enhance the real taste, do refrain from pouring extra sauce though. Cheese quality was excellent.

Roberto’s Pizza is an excellent choice for those who are a fan of crudo bar and would like to try Beef carpaccio with a twist. It is so Italiano, thin, crispy crust topped with beef carpaccio, wild rocket, parmesan shavings & black truffle, simple divine.

A good homemade Basil Pesto is a gift from the Italian kitchen that is always appreciated. Roberto’s Fettuccine Al Pesto di Basilico evidently left us speechless. Prepared at our table; the liquid nitrogen basil pesto with homemade fettuccine have all the likes of spaghetti, felt like the whole restaurant was engaged in the process. Toast pine nuts were added for extra crunch. A host of classic Italian staples (such as basil pesto, carpaccio and tartare) brought bang up to table thanks to some ultra-modern cooking techniques by Chef Dan.

All the food was perfection (amuse bouche, Drinks) but the real star was the steak. Wagyu beef tenderloin with truffle was tender and juicy presented over the bed of mashed potatoes and asparagus. Next up was another stay dish Risotto Bosco yet again semi prepared in front on us in a giant Parmesan wheel. Addition of those wild forest mushroom with shaved black truffle was an addictive combo. The aroma alone was divine. And it tasted even better.

In Desserts we tried an item from the Parmigiano offerings for March, however, what has won our hearts was a special item that arrived at our table with mini edible white chocolate in coconut shape with pinna colada, the cheese lemon tart and homemade ferroroche chocolate was delicious too.

From a culinary perspective, they specialize in homegrown signature Italian fair while unfolding unique food served with speed. You simply can’t compliant while sitting right next to the nice canal with a magnificent city view. Food wise it is pricey, but their offering is exceptional & bound to surprise and delight! A Presto!

Thank you Roberto’s for a lovely evening.
