Chhappan Bhog – Inexpensive, substantial and appetizing feast.

Chhappan Bhog is an ideal restaurant for an inexpensive, substantial and appetizing feast. It serves yummy veg food. The menu has all types of Indian snacks and main course items. During our visit, the venue was bustling with diners mostly families & friends (dine-in) and individuals grabbing their orders and dry items from the shop inside the restaurant. There is seating both inside and out.

I begin my tasting session with non-greasy Parathas; my personal favorite was Pudina & Paneer flavor.  Mr. K enjoyed aloo & onion paratha a lot better. Their Chats are awesome. We tried Dahi Raj Kachori, a towering pile of chickpeas, chutneys, potato, cilantro, spices, yogurt and crispy crunchies, all inside a fried puri shell. Mixed and Dhakai Chaat was also appetizing with dainty dahi, crispy mix, and bhelpuri. It all tasted very good. They have a sweet & confectionary counter also.

Being a great thali lover, I enjoyed their North Indian Thali, which is by far the best of all I tasted elsewhere. Besan ki kari in the thali along with vegetable curry was divine.

Inside there is also a giant case full of sweets on one wall and the chaat counter next to reception. Behind that, there is a small kitchen, where you could see the kitchen staff folding up the killer paper masala dosa for us. Paper Masala Dosa, was not too thin yet so crispy & crunchy that it almost resembles a paper-thin crepe folded flawlessly. Chana Bhatura was flavorsome consisted of chickpea aroma blend gravy served with piping-hot Puri (large round of fried bread).

The menu is full of the types of treats and sweets one might find common in India and the prices follow suit with almost all dishes below 20 AED. Their. Matka Kulfi & Kulfi falooda are superb; they are unmatchable when it comes to Kulfi. Dare to try different then try order some coconut Gulab Jamun or Kesar Rasmalai both were fresh and well executed.

All n all a must place for lunch or for dine-in casually and randomly too if you are in that area. You could cherish awesome Indian Street food in a clean and AC environment & that too was value for money. In case you are in a hurry just pull up in your car and beep until a waiter comes out to take your order for a quick bite of chaat or that yummy samosa.

The only lacking I found was with the service though it was friendly but not as efficient. Staff rather needs to be more prompt clearing up the tables after diners leave. Summing it up, foodwise we had a good variety of Indian sweets and fresh food which was reasonably priced.
