RAMADAN 2016 SERIES: Iftar at 18° Restaurant at Hyatt Capital Gate Abu Dhabi

Last week Hubster and me have experienced a magical and exquisite Iftar experience. We indulged in authentic creations while relaxing with panoramic views of the Capital. Yes, we were privileged to be dining in at 18° that is located in the world’s farthest manmade leaning building, the iconic and world record breaking Hyatt Capital Gate Hotel.

Iftar Buffet Menu:

At 18° Executive Sous Chef Michele Muller and her team have indeed created a menu using fresh and simple flavours to enhance the innate brilliance of locally sourced produce. Inspite of the fact that the buffet is not extensively large but majority of the items are so delicious and literally at par in quality and taste. It’s difficult for me to choose if which one is better than the other. Other than usual Ramadan themed mezzeh, non-fasting guests can equally enjoy the cold cuts of meats and cheese, roast beef with vegetables.

They offer Ramadan specialties however still kept some of their specialty dishes from the gastronomic heritage of the Eastern Mediterranean (inspired & influenced mainly from Lebanon, Syrian and Turkish cuisines). I love how derive the essence from simple flavors to enhance the freshness of the food. Three show kitchens with interactive counters add to the theatrical display, while weekly changing menus ensures consistently innovative Ramadan offerings.

What I love about this buffet is that alongside the selection of traditional beverages, such as organic Laban or Karkadieh drink, they also offer fresh carrot & orange as well as cranberry juice and can cater on demand. I loved the Lamb Ouzi with oriental rice as well as while fish, Salad counter has a lot of varieties. There was a selection of Arabic and French sweets & desserts like cheese cake, tarts, mini baklava, kunafa Umm Ali was my favorite & noteworthy of all.

Ambiance & Seating:

The design of the restaurant’s dining room is sophisticated, elegant and modern with a spacious seating style featuring traditional round tables as well as booth seating and an outdoor terrace. When I last visited this place though not in summer I enjoyed watching the sunset from the terrace which was indeed a memorable experience. Along with great ambiance and food welcoming and competent service as well as management interaction with guests was outstanding.

All in all it was a great option as everything we sampled was of a high standard. Hence if you are looking for a magical spot to enjoy Iftar this Ramadan to make this truly memorable by sharing special moments with family and friends at the award winning 18 Degrees restaurant.
