Iftar at LAYALI AL CORNICHE TENT – Sofitel Abu Dhabi Corniche

We had a pleasure dining in at the best food scenes in Abu Dhabi this Ramadan. Sofitel Abu Dhabi Corniche 5 star hotel, well-known among residents and guests of the capital for a variety of gourmet cuisines has introduced all decked , Layali Al Corniche Ramadan tent. We happily returned to our favorite venue this Ramadan and got a pleasant surprise discovering the beautiful and elegant tent this year.

This holy month, Iftar and Sohour are being served at their newly constructed premium air-conditioned Layali Al Corniche tent, located opposite the main entrance of Sofitel Abu Dhabi hotel. The tent has a capacity to host up to 300 guests. After sunset and prayer, guests can break their fast and enjoy listening to live oud music during Iftar and Sohour.

Iftar at Sofitel was prepared by 47 chefs under the guidance of Executive Chef Kim Gates. These chefs are from various countries including Jordan, Syria, Egypt, France, Thailand, India, Sri Lanka, Indonesia and featured also a unique and traditional Moroccan station. Layali Al Corniche Tent was filled with the unique harmonies of oud while we delighted in our Iftar. Yes, the LIVE oud player performance was very talented and melodious.

Mains were delicious. However, the highlight of the evening for me was an exceptional Moroccan station. This is made even more special as they brought in culinary chefs from Morocco to create dishes filled with traditional delicacies for a genuine taste of the region. Ramadan juices, desserts and dates were also offered over the table. Ramadan juices were kept in a special casing which is very appealing in presentation.

During Iftar, we had a constructive and sweet challenge to choose from around 200 hot, cold dishes, desserts, sweets and drinks from Moroccan, Emirati, Jordanian, Lebanese, Egyptian, French, Italian, Thai, Indian and Western cuisines. Yes, you heard it correct, it’s a dessert galore, and the menu selection will be changed daily.

Kim Gates, Executive Chef at Sofitel Abu Dhabi Corniche highlighted  “This year we have brought in a culinary team from the Moroccan cities of Fes and Rabat. Chef Fatiha Alhadi who has many years of experience and has cooked for the Royal family of Morocco will lead the culinary team. Chef Fatiha will prepare traditional Moroccan dishes including homemade bread, tagines and a selection of home crafted sweets to enhance on our extensive offer.”

Overall the Tent experience was superb. The concept is been laid beautifully, and we have experienced an authentic Middle Eastern Iftar at this deluxe Layali Tent. Myself, Mr. K and kids had a feast on a buffet spread of traditional Arabic delights such as hot and cold mezzeh, mixed grills, Ouzi and a variety of main courses. Kids especially loved the pasta and Arabic Ice-Cream counters.
