A must visit if you are a Punjabi & Amritsari food fan. Very different from the standard run of the Punjabi joints in Dubai (This branch of Kulcha King), as its located in Florida Hotel and is big and very well maintained and organized. We entirely agree after our experience as why they are having the tagline claiming to serve the best Kulcha’s in town. Oh yes they were indeed outstanding variety of kulchas. Place is very nice and elegant and ample underground parking is available at the hotel. Staff is available at the entrance to assist you in case you need any help.
Kulcha King also serves a great variety of Indian and Breakfast menu item. As this branch serves as all day dining joint for the hotel guests too. They have huge variety of curries however we tried some of their specialty dishes.
Amritsari Kulcha’s – Kulcha basically is Indian Bread Baked in Clay Oven with the stuffing of different choices & then topped with Kulcha King Special Masala & Butter to add the flavor. Served with Cholle (chickpeas) & Chutney (chopped Onion mixed with Imly). We tried Mix Lacha and Chicken Keema and it unique and very very tasty.
Mix Kulcha – divided in half comes with a chunk of butter on top, it is salty and crispy, generously stuffed good to go alone or even with green or onion chutney they served.
Dal Makhani – It is one of the highlight of the menu. Subtle flavor and rich consistency. Their Black Dal (Lentils) was cooked for hours on a slow flame, before served to us. It was Served hot, went well with Lacha Paratha we even tried few bites with aloo (potato) kulcha and it was scrumptious.
In starters we had Non Veg Khazana – having assorted pieces of Murg tikka, Tandoori chicken, mutton seekh and fish koliwada. All were so tender however the best was murg tikka and fish. I find seekh a bit salty for my liking. we wanted spicy and our food was right on its mark. You can always mention your preferred spice level while ordering, I really liked the combination and the flavors of this platter as I get to taste at the first bite. Perfect.
Veg Khazana- with 4 vegetarian treat. I must say it is one of the best non-veg grilled starter we had. perfectly grilled Paneer tikka served with salsa potato stole our hearts. Aloo Angara is quiet famous here and I can surely tell why now. It has all the rich flavors and it’s a small yet composed items, Mushroom tikka was very tasty that I just finished it immediately. Harra bhara kebab was probably the only thing on this platter I dint entirely finished.
From Amritsar-Punjabi variety we had their Spl. Amritsari Malai Murg – i-e Cream chicken / Murg Makhani. The pieces of chicken were marinated and traditionally grilled in tandoor (clay oven) with various spices. This Unique Gravy in the end is flavored with Fresh cream & Our ghee (clarified butter)
Mixed Veg Butter masala, was good option for vegetarian it had mild spice level yet rich in flavor, you can savor freshness of vegetables and curry aroma at the same time.Mutton Biryani has long grain rice, blended with very well marinated juicy and tender lamb. Saffron aroma was oozing out of this rice platter. However, in comparison to curry dishes and kulchas we rate it less in taste.
Rightly called King of Kulcha’s this place served best quality Kulchas. Their size wasn’t too big but filling for one person, luckily it wasn’t too spicy. I personally din’t like the channas they hard, I feel kulcha itself is so amazing that it need no accompaniments. Loved the taste especially the tamarind chutney. The menu has unlimited options and choices over all. Ample enough for kulcha too and every variety of kulcha is worth trying 2nd and even more times.
In Juices we had lemon with mint with a dash of black salt and sweet lassi. They both were refreshing and digestive, and in desserts we had gulab jamun which is my all-time favorite and served so fresh and is definitely very authentic and yummy.
Overall I enjoy the place for its food and service along with nice ambience. They are keeping the standard and quality of food which makes me with my family come back for more of it specially Kulchas. This branch is really easy to find since situated on main sheikh Zayed street. The outlet is modern decorated, walls with lot of small frames with very interesting pictures. Service had no flaws except it got a little slower with more crowd with in the restaurant, the staff who took the order had knowledge about all stuff. Avinash was our host and took good care in hospitality. Thanks to Sana from La Pear Sociate for all the coordination and kind invite!
