‘Saturlaze’ at Finz | Beach Rotana Abu Dhabi

A few weeks after launching to much hype and elaboration, how is Saturlaze (new Saturday laid back lunch concept ) at Finz settling into Beach Rotana Abu Dhabi dense dining landscape?  Very well indeed, it seems, and that’s the reason we accepted the invite with no hesitation learning about all the good feedback. Located at premier locations of Abu Dhabi, the bustling grandeur of the iconic Beach Rotana Abu Dhabi belies the beauty of the bay beyond.  This stunning seafood restaurant also offers unobstructed views of the blue water and manmade Islands, the Al Mariah and the Alreem Views, who want to be dazzled by the skyline. Now with its new Saturlaze menu, however, there’s a strong case to be made for spending a lazy afternoon in this impressive, serene & bright restaurant, it’s hard not to be overwhelmed with a feeling of satisfaction at seafood as well.

The Venue vibes: Head straight to the beach before or after the lunch – if you don’t want to just go home to bed, that is. You’ll be in need of a swimwear and a skin sun protection lotion.

Created by executive chef Christian Rosse, the menu includes a 4-course meal with a wide selection of seafood as a pre-starter, appetizer, a main dish, dessert platter and coffee, tea or selection of mocktails/cocktails. We experienced Saturlaze on a stunningly clear day, and we found it to be a rather pleasant way to while away a sunny afternoon. Filling the space with natural light and offering panoramic views, the restaurant’s floor-to-ceiling windows ensure that there’s not a bad seat in the house. However, you’ll likely be happiest if you request a terrace table with sea-view.

The flagship of brunch was a gorgeous Seafood Tower / Stand, including an international selection of freshly shucked oysters, tiger prawns, poached shrimp, mussels, tuna tartare, lobster cocktail and nori chips. Appearing like a miniature fish market and presented on a tall stand encased in ice Some of our favorite options were tuna tartare and tiger prawns. It was simply adorned over ice bed. If you’re lucky to get terrace seat, you’ll witness the ultimate highlights of the sea in the background and can enjoy the dish with ceviche bowls of salmon and tuna presented along on stand.

Next course was urban Seafood Stew Bourride. A seldom Mediterranean dish presented with toasted crispy bread. It’s light and the flavourful with rustic tomato essence and the meek hints of the seafood (clamp & prawns soaked at the bottom of the platter).

For the main course, diners can choose from three options. Mr. K chose a salmon filet which is served up with lemon, while I opted for the grilled stone bass, it was flaky and tender as cooked to a perfect medium-rare and presented with a slice of Lemon & lime both. This  fish has a garlicky, herbal punch. My virgin margarita paired well with just about everything here. The dishes arrived with few sides tabouleh, couscous, and oriental rice. Finally, a selection of dessert treats arrived. Mini Macarons and Eclairs were delicious.  And we ended our dinner with small chocolate ice creams in cones.

Though anyone who doesn’t fancy seafood will quite likely avoid Finz, still there are few alternatives here to satisfy carnivores and vegetarians alike. Considering the high quality of the food and the impressive space, you won’t be disappointed. And to top that lively DJ also curated soundtrack which distracts you entirely any shortcomings (in any). In music, you will hear a bit of everything.

Fantastic four-course lunch at Finz was seemingly very informed – we have gone for a different variety of mocktails as been informed about the options. We were also told when it was last orders, so didn’t miss out enjoying thoroughly. The staff is fantastic. Highly recommend! All things considered, this laid back style lunch at Finz is a standout option in the Capital with no shortage of alternatives. The breathtaking views, fabulously fresh seafood, and casual vibe all create an appealing atmosphere where you can happily spend a few hours dining and spending to your heart’s content with family or friends.

Overall, this is a well-balanced meal one that leaves you satisfied but not over full.  This is not an event to overindulge on heavy proteins and sauces, but rather a pleasant blend of dishes highlighting the ocean. The is a very elegant affair. The lunch offers an exquisite four-course set menu and fresh seafood and shellfish to share, paired with select bubbly packages and picturesque views of the grand canal for an unforgettable destination dining experience. Finz & Beach Rotana is a perfect tourist destination since it truly highlights many of the beauties of Abu Dhabi.
