Cafe Sushi – Fairmont Bab Al Bahr Abu Dhabi

During our Summer stay at Fairmont Bab Al Bahr, we were also invited by the kind team to dine in at Café Sushi. As our expectation was already high, whether this place will keep up with high standards of prevailing F&B outlets at @FAIRMONT BAB AL BAHR, we were looking forward to a promising experience at this newly opened Cafe Sushi restaurant in this hotel.

We started admiring the simple yet classic décor for the venue. With wood inspired theme the place features high seating tables and chairs around the center display of the restaurant, and it also has the comfortable sofa style chairs seating in both sides of the restaurant.

Pre-Starters & Appetizers:

Upon arrival, we were warmly greeted with Japanese Tea. First arrived on the table was a popular pre-starters Edamame bowl (chili garlic sauce infused plus plain salted soy beans). They were contagious for taste buds, once you pop, you simply can’t stop. In hot appetizer we loved Shrimps Tempura, this crispy battered prawns were well presented with bonito broth and were tasty.

Next, we ordered the Wagyu beef Tataki in cold appetizer, and it came with delicious Truffle Ponzu Dressing, aromatic Winter Truffle and Crispy garlic chip, it is by far the best Tataki version we had elsewhere. The portion size was extremely generous, and the flavor of this dish was par admirable.

From salads, we tried Spinach & Dry Miso, a pleasant in taste and filling dish. Yuzu juice with Parmesan cheese made it extra delicious while it was drizzled with truffle oil. It was citrusy, delicate yet super green bowl.

Our trials in Signature Sushi Roll:

Lobster Tempura Roll with Avocado and Teriyaki sauce was delicious. The Nigiri sizes were too large, and the temperature of the rice was not too warm. We also tried their famous Dynamite Roll; Pickled radish was an addictive combination.

Volcano version was also a hit with loaded crab salad, Café Sushu Wagyu Roll with the twist of sweet shrimp tempura and teriyaki sauce is another great option for experimental for sushi fans. Blow torch variety was also good.

I’m thrilled that we came across this little gem. The menu was the biggest I’ve seen yet, and the venue was equipped with conveyor Belt. There are so many rolls to choose from I honestly had a hard time picking.

The wait wasn’t too bad; my rolls came out first which were all delicious and fresh. I also tried the king crab roll; it tasted like the ocean and was fresh. Daikon Cress and Avocado made this sushi roll so likable.

Other dishes:

I had a taste of the Shrimp Tempura with Avocado and el Sauce which was good. In Signature main courses we opted for succulent Oriental Spiced baby chicken. It was very delicious with Ginger Garlic marination and Barley Miso, simple yet classic.

Grilled Wagyu Teriyaki was good in taste and extremely attractive in presentation. The poached asparagus on top and their setting indeed caught our attention. The meat was melting in the mouth with a perfect sear. Our sides contain tasty edamame fried and steamed rice with sesame seeds. Café Sushi has satisfied our taste palettes in every sense.

Lastly, the surprise part arrived. Unusual but immense in taste desserts Anmitsu & Daifuku which are so colorful and very mild is sugar intensity. The earlier was a vibrant platter containing Japanese Wagashi Jelly, fruits, Mochi (it was my favorite Green MATCHA) and Red bean paste. Daifuku are the gooey, soft Japanese Rice Cake filled with cocoa, custard and strawberry flavor, not much of kids liking but I preferred them over excessively sweet desserts.

Our server was very friendly, and the service was great.  So happy we found this place and will be returning soon. Sincerely one of the best sushi I have tried in the Capital. We had enjoyed a very decent meal with bite-size mouth-watering sushi variety. The freshness of ingredient and service speed is 5/5.  I would also applaud them on authenticity.
