Located at Khalifa City A, opposite to Al Raha Gardens Gate 14 , 3d Street, SE42 “1868 RESTAURANT CAFÉ & GALLERY” is the unique concept that stems from a historical era in the renaissance period where food & art merged together & food was no longer seen as just for consumption. They create everything served from scratch, with their own in house bakery hence the venue was brimming with aroma of Ramadan delicacies.
Upon arrival we were warmly greeted by staff and as we make our way to our table, we couldn’t stop gazing around at the walls which transforms the area into an artistic exhibition venue for emerging Emirati and regional artists. You are infact dining while sitting in the midst of the gallery featuring master pieces on display and for sale from renowned and talented artist.
As we were in conversation with Haneen Tamimi – Managing Partner of the brand, she mentioned about healthy practices been a tradition to their kitchen. All in house food made from scratch cooked in EXTRA Virgin Olive oil. They have a strong emphasis on healthy home style cooked food hence even bring some unique ingredients back from her home country to bring the true taste.
Iftar Buffet:
We were more than delighted to receive an invite from 1868 RESTAURANT CAFÉ & GALLERY as they are hosting its first 1868 Iftar & Suhour in newly built Ramadan Tent. Featuring a scrumptious International Buffet . Main courses featured authentic Arabic & International dishes. Chicken Maqlouba won our hearts with unique blend and inclusion of eggplant chunks and potatoes. Seafood platter is worth mentioning too, it’s not oily and has great mix of items. Also on display was a full dessert spread prepared by in house Pastry Chef & Ramadan juice station. Umm Ali, French pastry and halawat bin liben were distinctive.
Ramadan menu was quite exclusive and relatively grand that you would get in this amount and of this fine quality. Each section was well sorted and conceptualized. Salads have variety and is very fresh. Best was Rocca salad and Macdous. Appetizers were transformed into hot mezzeh and were very delicious indeed consisting of one of a kind Musakhan roll and Chicken liver (Juicy & tender). Their white pasta was a treat for pasta lovers. Bakery section display has variety too where every single baked item is made from scratch daily.
1868 Restaurant Café & Gallery will be the ‘go to place’ in KCA. It is surely bringing the culture of art to the city of Abu Dhabi in particulate to this fast growing residential community in Capital.
