New look & Menu at Bombay to Mumbai Café

Last month we visited the newly launched Bombay to Mumbai Café, at Marco Polo Hotel Deira. Bombay To Mumbai Café is the urban modish concept eatery from Mumbai offering an amalgam of contemporary as well as local desi cuisine. Formerly known as ‘The Bombay’, Bombay To Mumbai café has undergone a total makeover, from a refreshed menu designed keeping in mind the tastes of the local as well as expat crowd of the city to the quirky yet chic interiors of the café and bar concept. Giant Mumbai street culture based wall hangings along with formal and casual group setting high chairs are posing a mix seating arrangement to cater all group sizes of guest diners.

We tasted some delicious food items like that of Shabnum Kai Moti & Paneer Tikka Achari, it doesn’t even look attractive & presented well but is perfectly spiced and is favorable to our taste buds. As pre-starter we tasted from their chaat & pani puri section, all 3 items we ate were dainty Pani Puri, Dahi Puri & Sev Puri. Portions were the perfect size for an individual serving, for sharing per plate pieces can be increased.

From kebab selection, we were offered as chef Madan’s choice the duo of Mutton Kalonji & Murgh Alishan Kebab. I liked Murgh Alishan comparatively better and tender than Mitton kalonji. The saffron hints in Chicken kebabs were commendable. It was literally melting in the mouth texture, and the server portion was generous too. Kalonji fans would undoubtedly relish the taste of mutton kebab with the side serving of Green mint chutney.

Highlight from the appetizers was king of all Chicken Tikka Nana Keesh aka Desi Pizza. It was so well done being placed on Tandoor Roti, cheese quality was excellent, and the chicken mixture on top of roti dough base was beautifully done. I would highly recommend this dish.

In main dishes, we tasted from the mix of new and old menu items i-e Paneer Muska Masala, Bhuna Ghost, Chicken Biryani  & Naan. Where cottage cheese tasted just right for me, I was literally bowled over by the subtle and creamy taste of Bhuna Ghost, this is such a seasoned recipe and is so well executed by Chef. Chicken Biryani was delicious and is fragranced with the best quality basmati. Mr. K loved the gravy of Paneer Muska Masala and enjoyed it with crispy naan.

Dessert section needs re-touches as the fusion number we tasted Gajrela Truffle.’ was not a hit as we expected more high on that end. Mocktail – BMC Sunrise was refreshing though a little over sweet. Inspired by the old Bollywood appeal of the city of dreams, Mumbai, the café and bar offer a choice of detectable culinary items, dinner meals, and drinks that are sure to add zing to every meal. You can also enjoy live music every day of the week, with a three-piece band during the weekends alongside some truly desi soft and hard drinks with a zing of contemporary flavor.

The food rundown was superb & well-presented and made wholeheartedly, and that plainly indicate in taste. If you are a fan of desi cuisine, then we highly recommend this venue to satisfy your taste buds with bursting flavourful food. We overall loved the presentation, authentic taste of desi tadka, zing and essence of Indian spices and overall hospitality of

Bombay to Mumbai Café.
