We loved dining in at this capital’s new exciting food concept at Yas Mall last week. It acts as a food incubator and is already a jam-packed over weekends more like a foodies hub for the local community. The venue is the first of its kind in Abu Dhabi to bring together local food vendors from across the UAE in a fun and quirky space. You can go along with family and friends and enjoy a variety of cuisines and food items. We went along with family where everyone’s choices are different ranging from pasta for kids, seafood for myself and hubby and some comfort fatteh and salad for parents and we literally enjoyed every bit of our time spent at this place.
We were able to sample delights from all corners of the world in a friendly and casual setting. In short we took a culinary journey from the streets of Venezuela (yes talking about none other than Latina food at Casa Latina) to a plaza in Italy; (Kid’s favourite Hue’s the delicious pasta place), to a back alley in Dubai (enjoying the middle eastern flavor pizza at PIDDZA) and to a village in Lebanon (savoring salad & Fatteh). The exciting new venue house twelve food vendors which will rotate every three months. The vendors include Joes Sliders & Fries, Off the Hook, Casa Latina, Tawa Bakery, Firefly Burger, Piddza, Chez Moe Café, Roll-Ups by Sukkar Dose, Bubble Waffles by Sukkar Dose, Hue Artisan Pasta, Fatteh O Salata and Casa De Churros.
From shack-way lobsters and burgers to bubble waffles, sliders and salads to sugar-laden deserts and even gluten-free goodies, there’s something for everyone to choose from. There are also vegan options, including vegan pasta, salads, and arepas. You can enjoy gluten-free desserts from Tawa Bakery which are 100% in taste.
Urban retrEAT serves as the most significant platform to support home-grown talent in expanding their businesses and creating and setting trends in the Middle East’s food scene. The venue also will host local talents such as musicians and artists, offering them a platform to showcase their work and perform for customers within Urban retrEAT. It was a treat indeed to hear a musician from Lebanon taking the stage, keeping us diners entertained while we satisfied our stomachs with delicious food.
Make sure to visit and enjoy it before September to enjoy the current vendors offering as the food scene will be changed next quarter. It is so compelling that this ever-changing experience for diners meaning all tastes and palates will be catered for with variety across the year. This concept brought something entirely different to the Abu Dhabi food scene
