Zaatar w Zeit Reviewed.

Zaatar w Zeit, the widely popular chain originally from Lebanon, Beirut has many branches all over UAE. Their menu is massive, and it has enough options for everyone with everything. With dishes ranging from fresh wraps and pizzas to salads and syrupy sugared desserts (i-e Mediterranean way), their menu is a treasure chest of scrumptious foodie delights. They’ve also recently added a plethora of new items to their lineup that is worth trying! Working in a fast paced restaurant is quite challenging but kudos to their staff for being so attentive. They kept wearing the smile in spite of being called from all the directions in the restaurant. They made sure even to change the cutlery and fresh plates after each course.

Zaatar W Zeit has good and healthy food. In the menu from the Breakfast section, we have tried Egg your way. You can choose sunny side up or scrambled style; the portion is good enough for two people as there are three eggs baked in a pot. It was very rustic; I liked it simple and original however you can add cheese, smoked turkey, beef bacon or frankfurter in an additional cost ranging from 6-8 AED.

Next up was two ways manakeesh Zaatar and cheese, keeping with tradition and matching our taste buds this was indeed the best of both worlds having zaatar on one half and cheese on the other. I like the freshness of ingredients and perfect baking of it, indeed one of the best zaatar manakeesh I had in the capital.

I have also enjoyed their two newly introduced teaser Hummus & crackers plus Golden Wedges. I loved the first one as it was their very own version of national emblem, with mashed chickpeas blended with tahini sauce, served with chopped grilled vegetables and toasted multi cereal crackers on the side. Healthy and nutritious at the same time.

Salad was Light and filled with flavors at this place; we tried not one but two of them. First one was Halloumi Salad with fresh lettuce, rocket leaves, baked halloumi, crunchy and seeds. The highlight of this item were sun dried tomatoes and purslane; the balsamic dressing was an addictive combo with this dish. Next up is Salad was a newcomer in their redefining Light portion of the menu, it is called Quinoa & Halloumi Salad. This one is very clean with yet many healthy items. There is the inclusion of grilled vegetables, black beans, peas, cherry tomatoes, grilled halloumi cubes and my favorite ingredients Chia seeds along with pumpkin seeds. You get to enjoy the flavor of each ingredient in its par, and it’s quite filling too.

The best dish of the whole evening was Potato Chicken which can be found under the platter section on the menu. I love the presentation of these simple spiced roasted chicken and grilled potatoes in such an appealing way. Nothing fancy but all the authenticity is yet intact with simple marination with garlic lemon along with coriander sauce. Thes served them along with freshly baked bread on the side, but believe me, once this dish will reach to your table you simply can’t hold yourself back to devour the whole pan by yourself all alone. Very aromatic, earthy and complete dish I must say.

We also tried BBQ Chicken Pizza which is okiesh in taste, I am not a big fan of BBQ sauce, and here in this item, it had overshadowed the taste of chicken. Even the other strong hints of coriander and fresh mushroom can’t balance the same fact. Kids surprisingly have enjoyed the same lot, and the chef is extra generous with cheddar and mozzarella cheese. Thanks a heap for that!

Mighty Kafta though is a wrap specialty, but I love the fact that they can alter the presentation and did serve the same to us on round open flatbread with a delicious kebab mix with cheese and tomato slices on top and mayo swirls to adorned the dish décor. Another wrap we liked was Spicy chicken with succulent marinated chicken stuffed in bread with bell pepper; rocket leaves onions, melted cheese and a mildly spicy sauce on top.

We eventually ended our meal on a sweet note when we tasted the heavenly cup of chocolate mousse cake, it was a delicious mix of chocolate cake and mousse and is very rich unlike many ready made, pre-prepared desserts from the counter. In drinks, they don’t have many options except regular lemonade and ice teas. We also tried their wrap desserts i-e Zknefeh from the new menu, it is so delicious when consumed fresh and warm, say an explosion full of taste and fusion in your mouth. It was a sesame flatbread with melted cheese, drizzled with sugar syrup, it not overly sweet either.

All in all, it’s a great restaurant being one of the pioneer and old existing brands they have their huge fan following and devoted customers who always turned around to this place for the best of best from their zaatar and cheese delicacies. I enjoyed my time along with the family and will extend my thanks to the whole team for keeping the standards high and serving clean, and freshly prepared tasty food.
